A Meet Market weekend

I know it has been a long time since my last post......this is only because I was working like crazy in order to prepare some of my wholesale orders and also to be ready for this month's Meet Market!!!!
The  Meet Market is a mobile community of designers, craftsmen, artists, collectors and independent businesses, who gather once a month  in various venues, exhibiting and selling along with a full line-up of music from local djs and music producers!!!! For the last almost 4 years I am a part of this cultural collective of creatives, as it is the most successfull craft/show/market/fair of Greece!!!
This weekend it was held at Technopolis which is a former gas factory in the heart of Athens!!! My stall is always in the entrance of  The Furnaces building, which is maybe Technopolis' most distinctive space that retains the atmosphere and the feeling of the old factory.

I love the Meet Market weekends for several reasons
because I have the chance to meet with my friends who also make things
because I have the chance to meet with my other friends who pass by to meet me
because I have the chance to meet with my customers (actually it is the only chance that I get to know who are the people that buy my things and actually I love it!!!)

Drama Queen @ Meet Market
because it is the most nearby experience to a camp experience (which I love and I wish I was a child again just to spend a summer in a camp).

Christy
Especially this weekend my niece Christy came from Patra where she lives and was my helper, also as the weather was sunny many frineds passed by to say hello and spend some time with me, and even if the sales were not as high as those on Christmas (we live in the economical crisis era so we can not complain) the fun really hit a limit up!!!!!!!!
In general I love being part of the Meet Market, and although that I am very tired when it is over (like now) I am a little sad waiting for the next one......

Origami Facts!!!!!!

This morning I realized that today is the 1st of February and I have just 8 days in order to prepare my wholesale orders……

So while I started to make a schedule about which origami jewelry I have to prepare, I thought to give you some fun facts about the art of origami!!!!!

 First of all the word “origami” = 折り紙, has its origins in the Japanese word “ori” which means folding and the word “kami” which means paper.
 Origami can be traced to about 500 A.D. to China, but the art was refined in Japan hundreds of years later.
 Paper was invented around the time that origami art invented but it was considered as a luxurious material with a high cost, that’ s why only the rich people of Japan were able to practice this kind of art.
 One of the most famous origami themes is the crane, which is a symbol of long life and good fortune.
 Origami was also used for love notes. As the shape could represent a message, also the choice of color combined with the shape could help convey the emotions of the writer. In addition as origami is an intricate art, if the love note went in the wrong hands, it was unlikely that the reader could perfectly refold the shape. Therefore, the origami love notes were extremely safe as they could not be read by wrong persons without the recipient knowing about it.
 In 2007 the house of Christian Dior selected an origami and Japanese theme for its Haute Couture collection.

I hope that you found these as intersting as I did.....
till the next time...

Drama Queen @ Paris

This week Drama Queen came back from a trip to Paris.....
Although it was a trip mainly for business reasons, getting away from the everyday routine is nice and visiting Paris is always "formidable"!!!!!!
It is for sure a magic lightfull city, where inspiration can be found in different ways and forms!!!
As this was not my fisrt time in Paris, and our schedule was tight, I was able to visit only two museums: Centre Pompidou, and Le musee des arts decoratifs!!! Centre Pompidou held an  exhibition tribute to women artists of the 20th century, and also a tribute to Mondrian and the De Stijl movement. Le musee des arts decoratifs held an exhibition about the fashion designers who were the milestones of the decades 90's and 00's.  Both were super!!!!!
Later I will share with you some photos of the exhibitions we saw....
Bisous & au revoir ( with more photos ...)
